Standing on a Cherry tree the mayor regards
the Cherry tree he is presently standing on.
"God Damn", he says, "This is a beautiful tree"
From his perch he can see the tonsils.
He is flapping his wings and flirting with
the joy of flying. He tries to spout feathers
from his arms. He takes off his jacket and then
tries to spout feathers from his arms again. He caws.
School children are enamored with the mayor.
They glue fluffy crafty feathers to their arms
and stand in the mouth, tweeting with admiration
One writes a report on the mayor and it goes like this:
We are all birds except the mayor, high in the trees
because he was wearing a jacket at the time.
